Cluttered Table Top

Spring break of 2015 was by far the worst but most transforming experience of my life.

I was not bathing in the sun on the beach like I normally would have been. Instead, I spent 8 days at home with my family sifting and sorting through 15 years of stuff!

I had come to a point in my life where I was physically and emotionally stuck. My business started off with a boom. Growth happened quickly and life was moving at a rapid pace. After months of solid success, I started feeling lost and like a failure. My head would spin would ideas yet I couldn’t implement anything. I talked and talked of everything I wanted to do, yet nothing got done. I was blocked both literally and figuratively.

When I assessed why I wasn’t getting done the things I wanted to, I had a million reasons and I was being suffocated by them all in my own household. Everyday, I felt trapped in my home and my days were spent picking up, cleaning, washing, sorting, organizing, and moving things from one side of the room to the other. My creativity was blocked by clutter and my business was stagnant because of stuff. It was time to take some major action.

A friend of mine told me about Marie Kondo’s book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” and let me tell you – it was life changing! I highly recommend you buy and read this book before starting this process

If you commit to this process, you will dramatically change your life. Here are some things that happened to me and my family:

My business grew – nothing was in my way anymore!

My relationships with my husband and kids improved. We had more time to connect and we weren’t cleaning and picking up all the time.

I started nurturing passions and got more free time.

Picking up and cleaning became a breeze.

I absolutely love my house now.

I felt lighter, clearer, and more creative.

We saved money. We don’t buy unnecessary items anymore.

We make memories through experiences instead of buying stuff.

We honor and appreciate what we have.

Life is simpler and more joyful

The key is to clean by category NOT by room. Mondo says it is very important to follow the process in order and I completely agree. Here is a video that walks you through the categories
If you want to dive into this life changing process, I highly recommend reading the book and then downloading my ebook that takes you through some tips from my own experience. Clear the clutter and transform your life!
